Optima is a London based Triathlon Club. Our club caters for all abilities of triathletes from beginner to professional athletes and all ages. The Optima Racing Team’s set up offers the most comprehensive coaching system for age group athletes in the country. Our head coach is James Beckinsale who is BTA L3 qualified and started triathlon coaching at Thames Turbo in 1998. James is also the London Region Academy Coach.
Optima Racing Team was set up in 2000 by James Beckinsale. James had been coaching at a larger club, but found that in this environment the coaching was spread thinly, with no real opportunity to focus on the individual requirements of the athletes.
Since its inception the club has grown consistently year on year, including the addition of a junior section in 2005 (see junior page). The results in our coaching process are measured through the success of both our seniors and juniors at regional, national and global level.
Head Coach James Beckinsale has also picked up a number of accolades, including winning the British Triathlon Federation’s regional and national coach of the year in 2006/2007. James also set up and is head coach of British Triathlon’s London Academy.
Optima Racing Team is a member of the British Triathlon Federation and new and existing club members are encouraged to join their relevant Home Nation Association to take advantage of the benefits that membership offers.
