BTF Super Series 2026 Bristol: Otis Farrer-Brown, Zoe Hughes, Tom Mythen
The British Triathlon Super Series headed to Bristol for another exciting round of racing, with four Optima PE1 athletes competing. The race consisted of a 750m swim, a technical five-lap, draft-legal hilly 20km bike course, and a hilly two-lap 5km run.
The day began with the Junior/Senior Female race with both Zoe Hughes and Betsy Griffiths competing. An off-par swim from Betsy meant she had to work hard on the bike as she was 45 seconds behind the front pack. With the help of Libby Coleman from Absolute Tri, they bridged this gap and made the front pack. Unfortunately, Betsy’s race came to an early end after a touch of wheels from the rider behind on the fourth lap of the bike, which caused a crash, forcing her to withdraw. Zoe battled through a competitive field to finish 19th Junior.
In the Open Tier 1 race, Tom Mythen exited the swim just behind the lead pack but worked well with a small group on the bike to bridge across to the front pack. He then produced a strong run to finish 5th overall and 3rd Junior. As the youngest athlete in the field, it was an outstanding performance, securing his qualification for the Junior European Championships in Poland on the 31st of August.
In the Open Tier 2 race, Otis Farrer–Brown put together an excellent all-round performance. A strong swim saw him make the front bike pack, where the pack worked well together, finishing with a very strong run to finish 2nd overall and 1st junior.
Leon Boulting was too young to compete at the Bristol Super Series, so instead raced over at Eton Dorney Sprint Tri. Leon delivered a great all-round performance, leading all the way round and finishing the race off with a new off-the-bike 5km personal best. A hugely impressive performance showing what's to come.
