Chris Owens of Optima Racing Team continues to prove to everyone that age really is just a number, when at 70 years old he finished 3rd at the World Age-Group Triathlon Championships in Abu Dhabi last month.

Chris is a long-time member of Optima Racing Team and has medalled at various National and International races in the past, however this is certainly up there with one of his finest achievements to-date. Having exited the water in 1st place after a fantastic swim leg, Chris dropped back on the ride, only to battle through the grueling heat and humidity to hold on to a podium position on the run.

Chris is a key member of Optima, and is always willing to share his knowledge and experience with the younger members of the team, so this success is one thoroughly deserved and one I’m sure he won’t be forgetting any time soon. Congratulations Chris.
